A1. Why are residents called
patients?
- Because New Beginnings treats illnesses. For decades the AMA
has recognized that alcoholism, addiction and depression are real diseases. Over half a
million people die annually from addiction. We consider that serious! We aren't going to
protect your ego by calling the disease a problem. It's a disease. It's progressive,
chronic and can be fatal. There is no cure but we can help you arrest the disease.

A2. How much does it cost?
- Please call Monica Manuel at the Business Office for details on cost of the
program. I believe you will find the cost to be extremely
low for this type of treatment. (337) 942-1171 or (337) 942-1172 or
(337)948-9102

A3. Why should I or my child go to
New Beginnings for help?
- We aren't sure you or your child is appropriate for New
Beginnings. Not everyone is. You will need to discuss your case with Monica Manuel at (337) 942-1171 or (337) 942-1172 or (337)948-9102 . Assuming you
meet our admission criteria, you'll want to be admitted to New Beginnings because the
treatment we offer works if you will honestly apply your self. We are
laid back yet firm. There are strict limits and tough challenges for each patient. You
will gain a deep understanding of your self, the disease and how to live happily. You will
never have to return to the depths of despair that led you to New Beginnings.

A4. How do I know I can trust New
Beginnings?
- If you like, we will put you in contact with lots of our past
patients and their families. Ask them about their experiences with New Beginnings. Our
work speaks for itself.

A5. I hate 12 step groups! Why
should I endure 12 step recovery at New Beginnings?
- We could give you a lot of BS about this, but the truth is,
"It works if you work it!" Ask the million+ people who have found recovery via
the 12 steps. We don't know of any method with a better success rate. If you are suffering
from an addiction, we can assure you of one thing, your way doesn't work. If it worked,
you wouldn't be considering treatment with us. Try it our way for 90 days. If it doesn't
work we'll sadly refund your misery.

A6. What kind of medical facilities
do you have.
- We have two doctors specializing in addiction and behavioral
disorders on our board of directors. All patients get a thorough medical work up including
blood work and TB test. Emergency medical facilities are close by. We can monitor and
treat chronic medical conditions like asthma, allergies, epilepsy etc. Our primary concern
and focus is on addiction, emotional and behavioral disorders.

A7. How many patients do you have?
- We are just about always full to capacity. There is
often a 2 week or longer waiting list to get in.The capacity is 36 patients. We are a
co-ed unit with the average age being 17. Our facility is 55% male and 45% female.

A8. New
Beginnings is a co-ed facility, how do I know my child will be safe?
- We take extraordinary measures to
prevent romantic involvement between patients. Living quarters are clearly separated and
monitored 24 hours per day. New Beginnings has a large staff, and has a security guard for
the night shift along with regular staff at night.

A9. Tell me
about the staff who will be working with my child!
- The staff is composed of 2 Medical Doctors
specializing in addiction medicine, 1 Psychiatrist, 1 Dietician, 2 Nurses, 6 Board
Certified Substance Abuse Counselors, 1 Certified Teacher, 8 Mental Health Technicians and
4 Assistant Counselors. 98% of this staff is recovering from some sort of addiction.
A10. Why do you not let the patient use the telephone without permission during the
1st month of treatment?
- We feel that the patient needs to keep the focus on
their treatment and not defocus on old using friends, unhealthy relationships or both.

A11. What's the weather like,
really?
- Hot during the months of June to September with temps
near 95 degrees. Cool during the months of October to January with average temps of 70
degrees. Very Cool during the month of February with average temps ranging from 30 degrees
to 75 degrees.

ASAP! Please have the transcripts sent to us by fax at (337) 948-9101.

there?

get a job.
